As March approaches, there is one thing that every Colorado State University student is starting to think about — and of course that thing is spring break. When it comes to spring break, there are a number of different activities that can keep you entertained in Fort Collins — even if you are bummed that your plans to go to Lake Havasu and party fell through.

In today’s blog post, your local source of student apartments in Fort Collins, the Landmark Apartments, will be discussing 10 fun-filled spring break activities that you can participate in right here in Fort Collins.

Play In The Poudre

While the Cache la Poudre River might be running cold with snowmelt runoff, there are still plenty of things that you can do down by the river besides tube with friends. Consider breaking out the fishing gear a little early this year and getting your line wet in the water! Is fishing not really for you? Well, there are plenty of other things that you can do! Consider going for a run or a walk on the miles of paved riverside trails!

Take A Bike Tour

As you already know, Fort Collins is one of the most bike-friendly cities in the world — and a sunny spring day can be the perfect time to get out and pedal. Consider grabbing a group of friends and conducting your very own Old Town tour. Ride between breweries, stores, and restaurants. Heck, you don’t even need a planned route — simply pedal until you find somewhere that you want to stop.

Hike At Horsetooth

One of the best things that we can recommend for your spring break is to get up and get outside. While you might feel a little sulky because you had to stay home for break, getting outside can not only make you feel better, but it can also be extremely fun. Grab a couple of pals and go hiking at Lory State Park or in the Horsetooth Mountain Open Space!

Check Out Art In Public Places

Art in Public Places is a city-sponsored art project where the city… puts art in public places. These interesting installments are spread all around town from Old Town all the way to Twin Silo Park and range from painted transformers to sculpted underpasses to stone structures. If you are looking for something to do during the break, we urge to you try seeing them all!

Try The Spring Seasonals At A Local Brewery

If you live in Fort Collins, you probably like beer. If you don’t like beer, you are missing out. With upwards of 20 breweries in town, there is an abundance of different beers to try — and in the spring, many Fort Collins breweries break out the seasonal menu. So get out there and try some new beers, make some new friends, and enjoy the wonderful Colorado weather!

Go Sledding

While yes, the rest of the activities that we have discussed so far have been for warm weather, we feel like we need to establish a contingency plan for you — being that anything can happen in Colorado and that it would not be the first time that we saw snow in March. If it does snow, make the most of it! Grab a sled and head to the nearest hill!

Treat Yo’ Self

So you couldn’t make it on the vacation that you were planning for, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t still treat yourself! Consider using some of that money that you intended on spending during your trip and treat yourself to a shopping spree in the various artisan stores in Old Town. Do you already have all the home goods and personal goods that you could possibly want? Then consider visiting a local spa for some R&R.

Pet Some Cute Animals

We don’t care what people say, there is no such thing as being too old to get excited about a petting zoo. If you are an animal lover, a visit to the baby animals farm at Lee Martinez Park should be in order. Whether it be a pony ride that you want or you simply just want to hold and pet a baby chicken, a trip to the animal farm is a must.

Do Nothing

We know, we just went from telling you to get out and experience Fort Collins over spring break, but doing nothing can be nice too. As a source of apartments near CSU, we know the value of the great indoors. Sometimes all you need to kick off vacation is one or two days of rest. So what are you waiting for? Head to your student apartment in Fort Collins and crawl back into bed with a book or a movie.
