At the Landmark Apartments, we love being an apartment complex within walking distance to Colorado State University for students in need of off-campus student housing in Fort Collins. And if you come to visit us, you might just see why our apartments are so popular with local students.
One of the most exciting things about the fall season has to be the return of college football to Fort Collins. Sure, pumpkin spice lattes, leaves falling, and crisp mornings are all something to look forward to, but when there is a home game at Colorado State University’s Canvas Stadium, the entire city feels different.
When CSU chose to build the new $221 million- facility, they changed the gameday experience that residents and students of Fort Collins had grown so accustomed to out at Hughes Stadium. And with the move that was made back to campus for the first time in decades.
Now that Canvas Stadium is on campus, there are a few game day traditions that have been brought back — traditions that you will regret not participating in! Continue reading to learn more about some of the activities that you should consider participating in before next home-game!
The Coors Light Ram Walk Tailgate
A CSU pre-game tradition that was seemingly lost when the team’s home field moved off-campus is the Ram Walk and Ram Walk Tailgate. Sponsored by Coors Light, the Ram Walk reinstates the long-held tradition where fans line both sides of Meridian Avenue as the football team walks into the stadium.
Beginning roughly four hours before kickoff, the Coors Light Ram Walk Tailgate features an abundance of food trucks, libations, and even custom catering packages that can be ordered during the Denver Day and Homecoming games.
The Coors Light Ram Walk Tailgate will be held on:
- September 7 vs Western Illinois
- September 21 vs Toledo
- October 5 vs San Diego State
- November 2 vs University of Nevada, Las Vegas
- November 16 vs Air Force
- November 29 vs Boise State
The Stadium Sessions
While the Coors Light Ram Walk is the main attraction during the on-campus tailgate, it’s not the only gameday attraction that you don’t want to miss. When the stadium was brought back to campus, a new improvement was added to the already fun-filled day — the Stadium Sessions.
The Stadium Sessions are a weekly concert series hosted by Colorado State University, the Bohemian Foundation, and KRFC 88.9 FM Radio Fort Collins. The concerts will be held outside of the stadium before the games during the tailgate and will feature Colorado artists like:
- September 7, Delta Sonics
- September 21, The Movers & Shakers
- October 4, Kind Dub and Kerry Pastine & The Crime Scene (Held on The Oval)
- October 5, Float Like A Buffalo
- November 2, Instant Empire
- November 16, Jeff Finlin
- November 29, Macey Todd
